A mill that turned into a supply chain
Ironbark manufactures and distributes building products to the Australian and New Zealand trade. It began as a hardwood mill on the Hastings River in 1912 and still runs it. Today it runs 6 manufacturing and prefabrication plants, 11 trade counters and 4 commercial desks across Australia and New Zealand.

What each part of the business does
Trade counters carrying framing, sheet goods, linings, fixings and the accessories a job runs out of on a Friday afternoon. Account or cash, delivered by crane truck.
Supply agreements with tier 1 and tier 2 builders: formwork packages, tenancy fit-out, fire-rated systems and scheduled deliveries against a construction programme.
Structural and decorative panel manufacture at Wauchope, Somerton and Penrose. Pressing, laminating, edging and cut-to-size, tested to AS/NZS by the EWPAA.
Wall frames, floor cassettes and roof trusses designed to AS 1684 and AS 4440, cut and nailed to your approved drawings, craned to site in delivery order.
Veneer, laminate, acoustic slat and specialty board for joiners, shopfitters and interior architects. Sample library and specification support in every showroom.
How it got here
- 1912
Hardwood mill opens on the Hastings River at Wauchope, cutting girders and bridge timbers.
- 1954
First plywood press installed. The mill starts supplying formwork ply into the Sydney building boom.
- 1978
Trade counters open at Wauchope and Newcastle. The business starts selling to builders directly.
- 1996
Frame and truss plant at Beresfield. Prefabrication becomes a third of residential volume.
- 2004
Lists on the ASX as IBK. Acquires four trade centres in Queensland.
- 2013
Ironform and Ironfloor launch. Ironbark starts putting its own name on manufactured product.
- 2019
Grainworks acquired, bringing decorative surfaces and its showroom network.
- 2023
Penrose plant opens. Ironbark Panels begins manufacturing in New Zealand.
- 2026
Ironclad Architectural and the Stratawall AAC range go national through every trade centre.

Timber is bought from certified regrowth and plantation forests with full chain of custody. Recycled content is stated from the manufacturer's EPD, never estimated. Where a product is imported, the country of manufacture is on the data sheet.
